Holocaust victims honored in Red Village

A thematic exhibition dedicated to the memory of genocide victims was organized at the Museum of Mountain Jews in the Red Village (Guba district) to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The exhibition focused on the history of the Holocaust—one of the most tragic chapters of the 20th century—featuring archival materials and photographs of Nazi victims from the Auschwitz concentration camp.
The event was attended by Amy Carlon, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan, along with a delegation; German Zakharyaev, President of the STMEGI International Charity Foundation; and Vladislav Yusupov, curator of the Museum of Mountain Jews.
As part of the exhibition, Museum Director Igor Shaulov introduced the guests to the institution's activities, the history of Mountain Jews, their cultural heritage, traditions, and the community's contribution to the history of Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Amy Carlon emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory of the genocide, combating antisemitism, and ensuring that the tragic events of the past are never repeated. During the memorial service, a rabbi recited prayers in memory of the six million Jews who perished during the Holocaust, after which memorial candles were lit.
