    Language and education








    Education sphere of Mountain Jews traditionally had a religious chracter. Little children were educated in cheders. At the end of the 19th century, along with religious, secular education also appeared. The language of Mountain Jews is part of the southwestern subgroup of the Iranian group of the Indo-European language family. The language is divided into three main groups of dialects: northern, central and southern.
