Israel demonstrates Azerbaijan's tourism opportunities
With the organizational support of the State Tourism Agency and the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau, travel companies representing the country took part in the International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM 2020) exhibition taking place in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.
Azerbaijan was presented at the exhibition with a stand of 80 square meters, 4 hotels, 3 tour operators and the Museum of Mountain Jews.

As "Azerbaycan 24" reports with reference to "AZERTAC", Deputy General Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau Bahruz Askerov said that in recent years, among the countries showing interest in Azerbaijan, Israel is particularly different. Noting the importance of the Israeli market for Azerbaijan, he drew attention to the increase in the number of Israeli tourists compared to previous years, as well as the production of new tourism products in order to increase interest in Azerbaijan: potential, ancient Jewish heritage in Azerbaijan, friendly relations between the two peoples create wide opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.”

In 2019, the number of Israeli citizens visiting Azerbaijan amounted to 47,000 people, which is 66.8 percent more than in 2018. And in January of this year, 1,722 Israeli citizens arrived in Azerbaijan, which is 158 percent more compared to the same period in 2019.

Rufat Sadikhov, an employee of the International Markets Management Department of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau, stressed that information tours were organized for representatives of a number of Israeli media and travel agencies in 2019, and propaganda activities will continue this year. He noted that one of the main types of tourism that is of interest to Israeli tourists is health tourism, and for this reason, more intensive measures will be taken in relation to such places as Galaalti, Duzdag, Naftalan and others.

As part of the exhibition in Israel, the presentation of the Museum of Mountain Jews took place for the first time. Speaking about this, the executive director of the museum, Igor Shaulov, noted that “the museum created in Guba is already operating in a test mode and its official opening will take place in the near future. Visitors to the Azerbaijan stand show great interest in the museum and the Jewish heritage in Azerbaijan. We are very pleased to represent here our homeland - Azerbaijan, to contribute to the friendly relations that exist between the Azerbaijani and Israeli peoples.
